Disappointment for Fé15 boys:
There was heartbreak for our Fé15 boys on Sunday evening in Bishopstown when they just came up short in the Fé15 County final against Ibane Gales. Our lads went into the game looking to avenge their defeat to Clonakilty in the corresponding football county final the previous week, so a quick start was essential. Whilst Ibane registered the first point of the game after just 30 seconds, David Barry levelled the game straight after. However, the concession of a goal in the 3rd minute was a hammer blow, leaving Ibane leading 1-3 to 0-2 after 10 1st half minutes. The teams exchanged scores for the following minutes until Ibane registered their second goal of the night on 15 minutes. The score was now 2-6 to 0-4, time for our lads to reset and regain focus. With Jack Counihan firing from placed balls and Tadhg McCarthy contributing from play and placed balls, our lads kept chipping away at Ibane’s lead. The lads created some good goal chances too, but were unable to capitalize, so the lads were still in the game. Ibane made the most of the prevailing 1st half wind, to take some long range scores closing out the half 2-10 to 0-9. At the start of the second half, the teams traded scores before Ibane hit a purple patch between minute 10 and 15 adding 4 unanswered scores to lead by 8, 2-14 to 0-12. Our lads to their credit kept pushing and reduce the gap to 6 on several occasions during the second half, but couldn’t raise the elusive green flag they needed to kick-start their come -back. The final score was Ibane Gaels 2-17 Watergrasshill 0-17. Scorers for Watergrasshill Jack Counihan 0-9, Tadhg McCarthy 0-6, David Barry 0-1, Donacha O’Leary 0-1.
Whilst the lads were disappointed to lose on the night and no doubt the pain of the previous weeks’ loss in the football final didn’t help, but when the dust settles, these lads can be very proud of the year they’ve had. They are a fantastic group of young men and whilst they have visible skill, strength and determination – there’s an unseen spirit, togetherness and bond between these lads that will stand to them in the years ahead, which we are sure will bring them success. Well done boys, we are all very proud of you.
A word also for their coaches, who dedicate their time these lads in both codes, teaching them the fundamentals but also giving them the latitude to express themselves on the pitch and work through difficult situations which is developing the entire group, congratulations and thanks to you all.

Words of wisdom
Big thank you to Robbie O’Flynn who dropped in training last week to give our Fé12 boys some words of encouragement. Robbie was super with the lads, giving advice, tips and coaching to the boys who were starstruck by the Cork star and eager to impress.
There was also a bit of banter when Glenville Sciath Na Scol captain James O’Mahony & vice-captain Robbie O’Leary, brought along the trophy having beaten Watergrasshill in the final. Backs and forwards in training over the coming weeks will be great fun.
Thanks again to Robbie for calling in, the lads really enjoyed and benefitted from the session.
