Heartbreak for St. Colman’s

Despite a strong performance throughout, it was ultimately heartbreak for St. Colman’s last Wednesday in the Harty Cup quarterfinal against CBS Thurles. A strong Watergrasshill representation with Liam Foley, Mick O’Driscoll, Brendan Lehane on the starting 15 & Ciarán O’Leary and Ryan Murray on the panel. Colman’s were on top throughout and led 0-10 to 0-6 at the break. Thurles did just about enough to stay in touch and with time up, Colman’s held the narrow lead by 0-17 to 0-15 when Thurles struck an unlikely goal with their last throw of the dice. Colman’s didn’t win the resulting puck-out and a second point followed for Thurles leaving the score 1-16 to 0-17. Very disappointing for Colman’s who really left it slip at the death, the Watergrasshill lads may take some comfort from their strong display with Brendan (0-3), Liam (0-2) and Mick (0-1) all contributing to the Colman’s tally of 0-17.

Christmas Raffle

Following on from his first prize in our bumper Christmas Raffle, William Connolly dropped into Ross’s Centra, Watergrasshill to be presented with his prize by Ken Ross. Niall O’Riordan represented the club for the presentation and once again, thanked Ken Ross for his ongoing support for the club.

Upcoming Awards Night

We will have what thankfully, has become an annual event on January 27th next when we have our Watergrasshill & Glenville Juvenile medal presentation event in Kade’s County, Glenville. The fact that we have this event now every year, is testament to the great work being done at underage level within both clubs developing great teams, which hopefully in turn will maintain playing numbers across the clubs as players transition to the adult ranks. From a Watergrasshill perspective, we will have presentations to our U-13 (East Cork D1 Shield), U-15 (East Cork League & D2 Championship) and U-17 (East Cork D1 Championship) teams. Please do come along and support the event, it always a great energising experience seeing the under-age teams rewarded for their efforts.

The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto.
