The highlight of this past weekend apart from the fabulous weather, was the final day of the Cashman Cup held in Blackrock Hurling Club on Church Road. The Cashman Cup is an U-10 invitational tournament organised by Blackrock National Hurling Club, which is run over 4 weeks in April & May. During this period the boys played against Blackrock, St. Finbarr’s, Glen Rovers, Éire Óg, Blarney, Carrigtwohill & Youghal. It was a great opportunity for the boys to play against some very good teams and they have acquitted themselves very well, displaying their skills and teamwork and above all enjoying the experience.
Finals day on Saturday begun with the traditional parade behind the piper as all the teams were led onto the Church Road pitch. A great day of hurling followed with our 20 players divided into 2 teams playing 4 matches. A hard fought victory against Blarney was one of the highlights of the day. Thanks to the parents & coaches for continuing to support this great bunch of kids, a memorable experience for them and a taste of great days ahead.
In other games, our Fé-14 boys had a great wins over neighbours Bride Rovers in the championship encounter, coming out on top 8-12 to 1-15. The boys eye for goal was a defining factor in this game as their ability to carry, create space and pass was evident. A great wins for the boys who await the winners of Mallow V St. Catherine’s – best of luck boys.
Our Fé-17C team lost out to Fermoy in a real “game of 2 halves”. At the half-time break, it was just a 2 point game 1-5 to 0-10, with Fermoy just edging ahead. However, Fermoy upped the ante in the second half, coming out on top on a score line of 2-7 to 2-24. Hard Luck to the lads who really battled until the end, showing great spirit to stay with the cause.
Finally, our Fé-13 boys had a great win over St. Colman’s in Cloyne on Saturday. On a glorious day for hurling & sun burn, the boys put on an exhibition of hurling. Some great points taken, great support play matched by accurate passing and goals to boot. Our boys came out on top by 4-11 to 5-13, congratulations on a great win boys & best of luck for the rest of the campaign.

We were delighted to see that Ronan O’Keeffe picked up a prize at this months Rebels Bounty draw. The Rebels Bounty is an initiative of “One Cork” which aims to raise funds both for Cork GAA but also for the participating clubs by redirecting all proceeds above agreed targets back to the clubs.
Congratulations to Ronan and Thank You to all of our members who have supported the Rebels Bounty draw, all proceeds go directly back into the running of our clubs and your support is greatly appreciated.
Pitch Signage & Advertising Opportunity
As we enter a new decade, we do so with great optimism and excitement here at Watergrasshill GAA Club. Later this decade we will celebrate our centenary year, which will be a special milestone. While it's important to celebrate the past and the history of the club, it’s also important we look forward to the future. With this in mind, the club will shortly be undertaking a development project, to prepare the club for the future and further position ourselves at the center of our community. Part of this project will be the development of our existing club grounds. To that end we will endeavour to raise a revenue stream from advertising, while giving businesses the opportunity to advertise their services and reach a wider audience within our community. With the playing numbers on the increase our facility will be a busy spot over the coming years, and we would love to have your name and business positioned in the hearts and minds of all those who visit on a weekly basis. We are offering advertising space via pitch signage, 3000mm wide x 750mm high. These are a 5-year gloss laminate, flash mounted to 0.2mm skin diabond sign. If you would be interested in this opportunity to advertise and support our club, please contact Claire O Leary on 087-6239297 or any member of the club who can help
Text Service Re-launch
This year we are re-launching our supporters text messaging service as another way to keep members up-to-date with upcoming fixtures.
If you would like a weekly supporter’s message with fixtures for Watergrasshill & Glenville hurling, football, camogie and ladies football matches please contact Paud O'Neill 0879890964 or Barry Joyce 0871847017.
There is a nominal fee of €5 per year for this service.
We would also appreciate if members could share this service with those who are not on social media as we have found in previous years that this service is very beneficial for them.
