We’re so proud of our U-13 Team

Rebel Óg Coiste – Fé13 Premier 2 – Shield Final Watergrasshill 3-10 V 6-8 Blackrock

Everyone in the club is extremely proud of our U-13 boys who lost their shield final to Blackrock last Saturday in Watergrasshill. Playing with a strong wind in the first half the Hill lads dominated for long periods, and great movement throughout the team had us lead 2-8 to 1-3 at halftime. The second half belonged to the visitors however and a resurgent Rockies aided by that wind to their back, came right back into the game. With goals on their mind they proved to be the difference in the end. Despite a valiant effort by our boys in the last quarter to get back into the game, they just came up short at the final whistle. Congrats to Blackrock on their win.

The coaches would like to thank all the players for a great effort throughout the year. Keep the heads up boys, as the saying goes, sometimes you have to lose one to win one. With the talent in this group they will bounce back and many great days lay ahead. Wishing Louie Guichard and Josh Madden, both missing today, speedy recoveries back to full fitness.

U-12 team wrap up their season

As the curtain comes down on our U12 hurling and football season, the lads all got together for a joint end-of-season run-out on the Glenville Astro turf. We left the hurleys, helmets, footballs & gumshields aside, and instead had some fun with the lads.

The coaches want to thank each of the boys for their great commitment this year. It was a real progressive year, with the Iads putting in great effort in training and showing serious battling qualities in the games. We may not have silverware to show for their efforts, but an agonising late extra time defeat in the hurling final, and another, what if, extra time loss in the football semi-final, showed great promise for the future. We were extremely proud of the lads, who are a great bunch to be around. Thank you to the parents also for their support around the Covid preventative measures  and taxiing the boys around all year.

Thanks to Brendan Duffy for putting together the session and Míle Buíochas to Brendan, Eamonn, Willie-John, Shane and Barry for giving their time to look after the lads throughout the year.

U-6’s had great fun!

Our U6’s made the trip to Carraig na bhFear last weekend to take on our hosts in both football and hurling. Togging out in the Glenville colours the boys did brilliantly. It was a mighty final match of the season with lots of fun thrown in. At the end, the rope came out for some tug o war and no inch was given. Well done boys today and thanks to the parents for the great support and of course the coaches for organising. The boys will finish their seasons activities this weekend, where it will be more fun and games to wind down the year. Looking forward to seeing all the boys again then.

U-10’s head for Ballyhooly

Well done to our 24 U-10’s who headed to Ballyhooly to play games against Ballyhooly and Castletownroche last weekend. A great turn out again from this group, not just in numbers but in effort too – they gave a great display of skill and hard work. Thanks to all of the parent who travelled to support the lads and to Ballyhooly for hosting.

Pitch Signage & Advertising Opportunity

As we enter a new decade, we do so with great optimism and excitement here at Watergrasshill GAA Club. Later this decade we will celebrate our centenary year, which will be a special milestone. While it's important to celebrate the past and the history of the club, it’s also important we look forward to the future. With this in mind, the club will shortly be undertaking a development project, to prepare the club for the future and further position ourselves at the center of our community. Part of this project will be the development of our existing club grounds. To that end we will endeavor to raise a revenue stream from advertising, while giving businesses the opportunity to advertise their services and reach a wider audience within our community. With the playing numbers on the increase our facility will be a busy spot over the coming years, and we would love to have your name and business positioned in the hearts and minds of all those who visit on a weekly basis. We are offering advertising space via pitch signage, 3000mm wide x 750mm high. These are a 5-year gloss laminate, flash mounted to 0.2mm skin diabond sign. If you would be interested in this opportunity to advertise and support our club, please contact Claire O Leary on 087-6239297 or any member of the club who can provide assistance.
