U-12 boys in the spotlight

As the first round of the much awaited return of Go-Games program comes to an end, it’s time to put the spotlight on our most recent Go-Games graduates, the U-12 boys. Our U-12 boys essentially graduated from the Go-Games system last year and played their first games under the Rebel Óg banner this year. The boys play in the Rebel Óg East Fé12 Group 3 Hurling League and have faced Whitechurch, Grenagh and St. Colmcilles this year. Having won 1, drew 1 and lost 1 it’s been a mixed start for them, but one thing is evident – this group has got tremendous spirit and no shortage of skill to match.

The focus on fundamentals through the Go-Games system has served the boys well but as they move up into the Rebel Óg system, you can see the competitive spirit that naturally develops, in this group in particular. Having had a tough start losing their opening game against Whitechurch, the boys found themselves trailing at half-time in their second game against St. Colmcilles on a score line of 1-2 to 3pts. It would have been easy for the heads to drop, but these boys turned it around, digging in to run out winners on a score line of 1-3 to 4-6. Some of the skill shown in the second half had their parents and coaches smiling from ear to ear, notching up 4-3 and holding their opponents to just 1 point in the second half.

In their most recent outing against Grenagh on Monday 5th June, that spirit was again evident when the boys trailed by 7 points at one stage – they again rallied in the closing stages to draw the game on a score line of 3-6 to 4-3.

The future is certainly bright for this group of players and we certainly wish them the very best of luck for the remainder of the season. A mention also to the boys parents who continue to support them, dropping and collecting from far and wide as well as providing great support at all the matches.

Pitch Signage & Advertising Opportunity

As we enter a new decade, we do so with great optimism and excitement here at Watergrasshill GAA Club. Later this decade we will celebrate our centenary year, which will be a special milestone. While it's important to celebrate the past and the history of the club, it’s also important we look forward to the future. With this in mind, the club will shortly be undertaking a development project, to prepare the club for the future and further position ourselves at the center of our community. Part of this project will be the development of our existing club grounds. To that end we will endeavor to raise a revenue stream from advertising, while giving businesses the opportunity to advertise their services and reach a wider audience within our community. With the playing numbers on the increase our facility will be a busy spot over the coming years, and we would love to have your name and business positioned in the hearts and minds of all those who visit on a weekly basis. We are offering advertising space via pitch signage, 3000mm wide x 750mm high. These are a 5-year gloss laminate, flash mounted to 0.2mm skin diabond sign. If you would be interested in this opportunity to advertise and support our club, please contact Claire O Leary on 087-6239297 or any member of the club who can provide assistance.
