Juvenile Activity

Together with Watergrasshill Ladies Football & Camogie Club we organised an end of year joint training session for our U6’s/U7’s/U8’s. Over 100 kids from the parish descended on Pairc Ui Chaoimh last Saturday for a brilliant morning of Hurling/Camogie. On a beautiful crisp morning the boys and girls had a great time, showing great skill, testament to a terrific year of coaching and development within both clubs. Great fun had by all, and at the end each was presented with a medal and of course a goodie bag with treats. Thank you once again to all the coaches and helpers not just for today but for the time put in all year coaching the skills of the game. Thanks also to Shane O Regan, fresh off a senior county championship win with Imokilly, for coming down to play with the kids and take some photos. Thanks also to Emer Fennell & her Sar’s teammates, Emma Casey, Katie Walsh and Chloe Casey (also a Hill Ladies Footballer) for bringing along their senior Camogie Championship cup which they recently won. All in all a great morning of fun and fitting the sun shone down on a lovely bunch of kids. Enjoy the winter break everyone, see you all in 2020 for more fun and games.

Our U9’s travelled to near neighbours Bride Rovers last Saturday morning to play their last game of the year. With 20 kids wearing the red and white of the club we had 2 teams of 10 aside and they played 2 very competitive and tough 20 minutes games. At the end of the morning Bride Rovers handed out goodie bags to the delight of all the kids who really enjoyed their mornings hurling. Thanks to all the kids for a great year and to the parents for their time supporting this great bunch of kids. Special word of Thanks to the coaches, Tony Sheehan, John O Sullivan, Dominic Moynihan, Dave Healy & Tom O Callaghan for putting in great work this year with this group. Thanks to Bride Rovers for the invite and for being great hosts. Keep practicing over the winter boys.

Congratulations to the members of Watergrasshill AC and indeed anyone in our community who completed the Dublin City marathon. A large contingent from the Hill travelled, many of them parents of Juvenile club members, and not only completed the gruelling 26mile course but also did it in personal record times. A fantastic achievement and well done to all who have trained so hard past few months and completed the feat last Sunday.

Public Meeting

Watergrasshill Community Association are hosting the first public meeting to discuss the village plan. It takes place on Thursday November 7th at 8pm in the First Fruits Art Centre. This meeting gives all members of our community the opportunity to learn and voice their opinions with respect to the environmental design plan for the village. This is open to all and its hoped it will be a collaborative process which will listen and take note of what our community needs are. It is the intention of this plan to identify the needs of the village and capture the intentions of the community for the foreseeable future. Please come along and have your say. The GAA club is fully supportive of this initiative and would love to see members of the club and their family attending to learn more and have their say. Hope to see you there.

CPR

Hands for Life: Community CPR Training is an Irish Heart Foundation programme, providing FREE CPR training for communities across Ireland for adults aged 18 years and over. Watergrasshill Community Association will coordinate this program BUT we need the numbers. If you're interested please email info@watergrasshill.com. The training will take place in Midelton GAA club on Saturday November 23rd, time TBC. It's an ideal opportunity to get trained up on CPR & a great way for people previously trained to brush up on the techniques. CPR is a valuable skill to have and could save a life in the future. It’s something you hope you will never need to use but if you found yourself in a position it was needed, wouldn’t you like to know what to do. The GAA club fully supports this and encourages all members, supporters and friends to avail of this terrific opportunity to learn a lifesaving skill.

Happy Halloween

Finally to all the players, coaches, members of the club and indeed everyone in the community we wish you all a Happy Halloween. Enjoy the trick or treating!
